Black Panther Chadwick Boseman’s Impact On African Music

The death of Chadwick Boseman took the entertainment world by shock. Surely he will be missed and we love him 3000. Known worldwide mostly for his role as T’Challa in MCU’s Black Panther Movie, Chadwick Boseman has left a mark that will forever be in our hearts.

Black superheroes were almost never a thing in Hollywood, especially of one who seems to reign from Africa. Though it was a fictional story of an African Superhero this story and concept shed a different light and perspective on Africa.

Also, the fact that they incorporated African Music on the soundtrack for the movie changed the world’s attitude towards afrobeats. Mzansi’s very own Babes Wodumo was a part of this project. One can say the current change in trend and appreciation of African Culture and beats was to an extent because of the impact Chadwick Boseman’s Black Panther had on the world.

Previously young African artists aspired to sound more American as they idolized American artists. A sudden shift into appreciating African culture helped to catapult African authentic music as we saw Burna Boy and other’s music take off like a rocket. It made them seem like they were overnight success stories yet they had put in the work for years and then the spotlight was turned to them.

What we are saying is whenever there is a change in attitude towards a culture there are various factors that lead to that and Chadwick Boseman and fellow MCU Crew had a part to play on how the world now celebrates the African Sound and Culture.
