According to Italian transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea new owner Todd Boehly has made a direct call to Leeds over a possibility of secure the signature of Raphinha, who also wanted by Arsenal and Spurs.

After Bruce Buck stepping down as Chairman of the club, and Marina Granovskaia departure from the club confirmed, Todd Boehly kick-off as Blues chairman, as well as the interim sporting director.

He will probably be the busiest man in football during the summer transfer window with the amount of work he needs to do.

He’s already put himself right in the mix making calls to try and sign players, at least that is according to Fabrizio Romano’s latest column on Caught Offside.

The Italian journalist claims that Todd Boehly has made a ‘direct call’ to enquire about signing Leeds United winger Raphinha, who also strongly linked with a move to Emirates in recent days.

The Gunners have already launch an offer for the Brazilian star, but it was rejected by Leeds due to low to their £65million asking price.

T’he Raphinha situation is truly one of the craziest in recent years,” Romano writes in his column. ‘Barcelona have had an agreement with the Brazilian on personal terms since late February, but the idea of offering €40m is far from the demands of Leeds who want at least £65m.

‘Arsenal have made a first offer turned down by Leeds, while Tottenham are preparing a proposal and Chelsea have explored the situation with a direct call from Todd Boehly.

‘This one is very complicated though, because the Brazilian wants to join Barcelona, but they aren’t prepared to pay his asking price. Arsenal have also made an offer to sign him, but Chelsea are also in the race.

‘Raphinha had given his ok to Barcelona as a priority for months, but is now really open to listening to English clubs. The decision will take a few days.

‘In my opinion, it would be nice to keep seeing him in the Premier League and there is a very good chance for that to happen: for example, I know that Arteta is really in love with Raphinha, but Tottenham and Chelsea are absolutely in the race.’

Meanwhile, the Athletic claimed in recent days that the Brazilian first choice is Barcelona, following by Chelsea because he believe he could win major titles if completing a sensational move to Stamford Bridge rather than Emirates stadium.

Also want to play in UEFA Champions League and Arsenal who launch bid for him early this week, will participate in UEFA Europa League next season. As a result of that Chelsea have a chance to secure the deal if they can match Leeds £65million asking price.
